Last monday was doomsday for over 200 websites hosted by asmallorange when their server failed with no back-up provided.

A Small Orange representatives merely posted in a leisurely manner on their own forum would website owners please upload their own backups, while ignoring the fact they should have been providing the backup service.

There are several hosting providers which make far more thorough backup services than those provided by asmallorange.

There are far cheaper and better performing hosting companies out there, my recommendation is you give them a try

Like the previous reviewer, A Small Orange were once a great host. Not now! I have been with them for several years and I really regret renewing my plan with them as my site and email are down almost daily, with no resolve from their support team. Inexcusably poor service and you'd be wise to steer clear of them.

During my first experiences with A Small Orange, I was completely pleased. My website was always up, and if there was ever a problem, the support was quick to fix it.

These days, my website goes down every two days, especially during the peak hours, which means I am losing money. The support does not offer any solutions anymore, and they always beat around the bush.

When the server goes back up, it is only partially up, and my websites cannot connect to their databases.

And since I paid for the full year, I cannot even get any of my money back.

But, I don't even care, I signed up with another host. Even though I lost money for the remaining months on the hosting, I will make it up with the uptime with my new host.

Before I got my VPS hosting account, I used A Small Orange. They're great! I never had problems connecting to my website. If you're looking for shared hosting definitely go with ASO. The only downside to ASO is that service is a bit pricey.

I have been with ASO for a few months now and I must say support is way above the curve. Being someone who owns quite a few websites, I never host from the same place twice. That way, if something goes wrong with one host, I wont lose my entire site. Not anymore with ASO. I have been floored by all of their support and plans. They manually review accounts to prevent abuse, a true sign that it is about the quality not the quantity. Their support is fast, friendly and personal and know what they are talking about. 2 thumbs up for ASO! :)

Best host ive been on since ive been online developing sites. Their service is great, but what really stands out is their support. Its outstanding.

Their price could be a little cheaper, but I guess quality isn't cheap.

I have been with ASO for years and they have previously been very reliable and good with their support. That record has changed for some reason this year - my website has experienced two significant outages with the last one destroying most of the websites I host with them due to poor backups being made by them.

Hopefully they improve in the future as their record has been superb - but their disregard for helping fix the problems they have created has forced me to move on.

Been here a little over a year, finally have had it! Board needed to be watched constantly. Lost search engine position because of so much down time. If your about to join this place all I can say is they answer support tickets fast. Time to move on, thought they'd get their act together but never did. Live support dream on. I have other sites with other companies that never have down time. I was pressed to get Host for vbulletin and they were recommended well you win some and lost some. don't pay in advance cause they won't refund you past 30 days even thou you have a 10 months left on the deal.

I've only been with A Small Orange for a short time compared to the length I was with Site5. But during this short time I have been amazed at the quality of the hosting provided at ASO.

In my first support ticket I asked to have SSH access enabled on my account, and within TWO minutes I got an email back saying SSH access had been enabled.

I had a little issue during my transition to ASO from Site5 involving the PHP memory limit. I submitted a support ticket and got a response in minutes saying they had fixed the problem by editing my .htaccess file to increase the maximum memory my scripts could use.

The ASO community is also another great little addition to the whole experience with being hosted at ASO. Everyone on the ASO forums are very kind and helpful.

As for server reliability, I haven't had a single downtime since I joined ASO. I am positive their servers are not too crowded since their prices reflect quality, not quantity. I may not get as much space or bandwidth as other hosts, but the quality is outstanding.

After being with earthlink hosting for years, I finally took the time to research hosts and found ASO to be the best bargain for the price. Very fast CS and is always adding new programs to the fandango thingy. Granted, I might not be a website god or anything, but for a small company that tries to keep costs down, ASO was the way to go.

A Small Orange has been the best web host I have been with, they're very reliable and if you're serious about your website I highly reccomend them to anyone.

Their network and servers are up most of the time, I haven't had any sort of problems with this. I get quite a few visitors accessing my site at all sorts of times, there's atleast 3 visitors per hour (My site is fairly new) and none have complained about the uptime.

Moreover, their servers are very stable, like I said previously there's been no issues at all, their loads are normally under 1.00 and my website is always quick in loading.

The best feature of A Small Orange I would say is their support. I hear quite a few people saying that their current host responds to their questions quickly but ASO have responded me within minutes. Most of my tickets have had a reply within 5 - 15 minutes; their support staff is not only fast but they're kind and efficient at what they do.

Where the features and pricing are concerned ASO offers you Cpanel along with the standard features such as PHP, Perl, MySQL, Emails etc. Additionally, they also support Ruby on Rails for RoR developers. The pricing may seem high compared to other hosts out there, but bare in mind that ASO doesn't oversell or overcrowd their servers; it's simple, you get what you pay for.
