Previously I was using free hosting for my other websites and I have to admit I was a bit hesitant about signing up for paid hosting. However there were some features which I considered necessary for the http://e-productsreview.com website that I was not able to find with free hosting. So I decided to start off with a monthly Hatchling plan @ $8.95 per month with HostGator as this would give me the flexibility to upgrade my hosting plan if required or to cancel my subscription if I was not happy with the hosting service. So far I have been very pleased. I have not noticed any downtime or slow browsing speed. In fact I plan to upgrade from a Hatchling to a Baby plan in the near future to avail of unlimited domains and to consolidate all of my websites with HostGator.

I have had the worst experiences with them and their domain registration service - registry rocket. I have lost two domains with them so far but luckily I was able to get one back without having to pay the $265. I complained to them after the first one went and tried to set up an automatic renewal system like my other two hosts have but it never got done. (No I didn't check on it because of a death in the family keeping me away.) They have no notices going out that the domains are up for renewal. I am not sure how they stay in business if everyone is losing their domains. I have had websites since 1999 and have never lost a domain. The service rep even said that he has lost a few that way too! Come on! You can't be serious

I'm the queen of finding bad hosting companies and I've had a lot of headaches jumping from host to host because of down time and hosts going out of business. I've finally found a good home with Hostgator. I especially love their support. They're easy, friendly and they seem to really care about their clients.

before HG I was with IXwebhosting. Some of my sites are Drupal, so database speed is important. Running a Drupal site on IX was really, really slow. I changed to one of the cheaper plans with HG and have never had a problem since

Beware of what James said, it doesn't matter if you only use 1% of your allowed space.. but if you use 20 imap email accounts (needed for blackberry, thunderbird email client, iphone, etc) that's it.. you maxxed out your host gator account, not even your web sites will work after you use your 20 procceses.

Great hosting! I have had it for 6 months now! The server stopped working once but after 11 Minutes they fixed the problem and even upgraded the hardware at no extra charge! Best support ever! They will help you with anything be it Scripts, Billing, or the server itself. One time I couldn't get wordpress mu installed, I asked if it could be a server problem. They sent a guy out to look at it turns out I did something wrong in my config file. They fixed the entire thing no cost to me. Amazing Web-host!!!!!!

I have had a shared account with hostgator for over a year and had no real problems. It's good cheap hosting. The supports good and they always seem prepared to go out of their way to get things done. However, having said that if you've got a problem than is anything more than simple go straight to the email ticketing system and don't bother with the online chat support as those guys are the most junior and are not clued up at all.

I've been with hostgator for about a month. I know that's not very long. However, I'm very impressed with their super fast servers. I have a small personal website, and it hasn't been down a minute since I signed up with them. I haven't had to contact their support..so I can't comment on it. They do have 24/7 live chat, a 24/7 toll free number, a user forum, and other things. If you have a problem. They will be there to help you. I highly recommend hostgator. I plan on being with them a long time.

Been with Hostgator since December 2007.One year ago (see my "review" above) we lost our access to emails, FTP and cpanel. Now it happened again - together with the "go to the ISP" ritual. We've been without email, FTP and cpanel access for one week now and still chatting with them about it. Do I sound pissed off? YOU BETCHA!

I have several hosting packages with at least three different companies. HostGator is by far the best. I have been with them for more then 2 years now (have shared and reseller accounts) and I can not recall when was the last time I had to write a ticket. When I did, it was resolved in a matter of minutes. And I am saying resolved, forgot about the problem, done... THEY ARE THE BEST! Worth my money and I will continue doing business with them.

Hostgator. Have had a reseller account for around four years, no complaints at all. Yes there are limits but these are reasonable. I've only needed about 4 tickets and everything has been minor and resolved very quickly. If you are setting up the next You Tube this package is not the answer but for average traffic sites its great.

on shared hosting, users are limited by resource usage. most of the users on a shared resources account are either banned for 6 hours every single day. take for example oneclickmoveiz.com this domain was on a shared account. and the hosting provider which was go daddy i believe or blue host disabled his whole site every day for 6 hours. you can understand why this is. shared hosting is just another tool to get people into the real deal the debuted server package which is far more expensive. when you read some users, say good things about hostgator it's because, they never really experienced high traffic usage on their site. but those with high traffic and automatically suspended until they get a expensive server package. those people whom seem to think there are no problems, just wait until your site hits that limit you too will see what follows.

Hostgator has always been okay for me when hosting personal web pages. It turned out to be a mistake for a small business, though. We have about fifteen users at any given time using IMAP to access email. Each IMAP access creates one or two extremely low-impact processes. Hostgator only allows an account to have 25 processes going, which creates a HORRIBLE fake limitation in an environment that uses IMAP. When we go over our limit we lose shell access and the site goes offline with an internal server error until I call. Their support staff have been so uneducated, in cases, that they've lectured me about 25% CPU use (as opposed to 25 processes) when our CPU use is at about 0.1% or less nearly every time I've checked. They have no way to solve this problem short of a dedicated server and no interest in helping out. NOT a good solution for any sort of business environment. This strikes me as an artificial limitation designed to push dedicated servers.

I really like Hostgator! No noticable downtimes, moderate support speed (app.5-10 minutes), full of extra features (like php.ini configuration script or Shell Access for resellers) and the more important and nice feature is the low prices. However, their servers becomes slower and slower (traceroute logs from Turkey) which is the most crucial thing that I look from my hosts.

Warning: I've only been with hostgator for 2 months now. Support has been excellent. These guys will open ports and enable features they'll even transfer sites for free. I couldn't be happier with the support. Of the 10 support tickets I've started, only 2 needed further explanation and the rest have been handled on the fly. These guys seem to really know what they're doing. Uptime has been 100%, but like I said, I've only been a customer for 2 months. So far, a very happy customer. I'll update my comments in about 6 months (crossing fingers).

Reliability of servers are good - didn't see much downtimes. Support is good - ticket system works well. Features are unlimited but resourse is not. And if any site consumes much resource they suspend the account (all websites) instead of the specific website. Performance is average in general.

I manage 28 different clients' sites and USED TO have them hosted at Ipowerweb. That turned into an absolute nightmare with insecure servers, injection scripts, hackings, e-mail issues, etc. I couldn't WAIT to get my clients' sites off of Ipowerweb. About a year ago I started migrating my clients' sites to HostGator and the process has been easy, with no glitches! HostGator has amazing support, either by phone (very fast,--no more than 3 minutes wait time -- compared with Ipower that could take easily an hour on hold to get through to someone), e-mail or online chat. Their support personnel are knowledgeable and very quick to resolve any issues. I highly recommend HostGator. Even after the massive hurricane-caused power outages in Houston this year, their servers never went down! Awesome company! Great to work with.

Perfect in all terms, they have great support. We have been hosting with them for over 3-4 years now and except once when the servers shifted we have never had any issues. They are available 24 X 7 [unbelievable but true]. We have also referred many friends there and all say they are good. One other issue with them can be like they do not help in installing things like FFMPEG etc. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful support and service

HostGator provides an excellent value. I have two accounts with them (one business, one personal), running 3 or 4 PHP/MySQL sites, and I have never had a site go down that wasn't due to a configuration error on my end. I have been using them for over a year (my DNS and MX are hosted elsewhere, so I can't vouch for the reliability of HostGator's DNS or MX servers). I have been generally very impressed with the quality of service and speed (both bandwidth and MySQL processing speed). My only real complaint is that it is not possible to directly copy between different servers in their system (except via regular FTP, but not SFTP, SCP, or rsync). I have been very happy with their courteous, consistent, and FAST customer service - they'll even answer stupid questions courteously, professionally, and quickly (but try not to waste their time with stupid questions, please; we need their help for the tough ones). Also, SSH access and up-to-date PHP and MySQL installations make deploying web-based applications simple. Occasionally an SSH session will time out, but at this price, that is really nothing to complain about.

I was with host gator for approximately 8 months, due to myself having 7 months worth of credit from constant outages, rude employee's. The response times were slow, tech didn't help me for anything. It took them 4 days to fix a simple DNS error.

i have been with them for over a year and i have never had a problem (caused by thier end). the one problem i did have was with an .htaccess file that i mistakenly dropped in my root directory and it affected one of my sites 4 levels deep and within 20 min of the ticket the support tech emailed me back saying he had fixed the problem and even gave me a thorough explanation on why this problem occurred. i couldn't be more pleased with them. i have a free ping service ping my sites every 30 min to make sure they are online and the status on those after a year is 99.4%.... that speaks for itself

I transfered to HostGator from a poor hosting provider. Been with HostGator for over 6 months, they "Rock". My uptime is significantly higher. Speed and access to servers is great, feature to price ratio is hard to beat. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate them 9.5. Great job.

I am with HostGator Since December 2007 and all was absolutely perfect until three days ago when we lost access to our cpanel, FTP and outgoing email. Access was intermittent and when successful, very slow and unreliable. The websites were up and running without problems however. FTP access to other servers (not on HG) was without problems. The online support initially sent us to the ISP. That was strange since it was clear that it was not a DNS problem (HG hosted websites were operating just fine, remember?) ISP tested their connection and could not access /cpanel either. They also completed a full trace and they resolved all our HG-hosted sites without any problem. Back to HG - their senior admins examined the situation and after a lot of discussions they traced the problem to the servers and announced that they fixed it. That worked for two days. Now the problem occurred again. Current status is that we are without any possibility to update the website or FTP files. We also cannot manage the site via cpanel. At least the website is still up. For me, HG reliability is at the very bottom.

Amazed about the capabilities of these guys, not only the support is incredible to the point of actually tweaking your website (Drupal based) and upgrading stuff but the answers have been spot on. I love the features they provide although i wish they had a slightly better domain manager like the one you find on other host providers but that is all i can think of, everything else has been superb and the privacy and security are excellent. These guys do not ask you for your own password via emails like other people do, they don't ask you for your credit card via email like others do. I feel i am going to stay quite a bit here.

I've been with them on and off for about 2 years. For the most part, I'm fairly satisfied with the service they gave me. Good uptime, good support - most of the time - and the pricing vs. features/space/bandwidth, well, it's an overseller so you get more than enough. Although I had a good experience with them though, I felt a bit limited and now will be looking for another host.

I'm on one of their shared plans for about 15 months now. The first year has been great, server had more than a year uptime. The only ~5 minutes downtime was when they upgraded the kernel. Everything was fast for more than a year but in the last two months they started having issues, a few minutes downtime, heavy load on the server (above 18.00). Support was great too, didn't had to contact them except to tell them about the slowdowns. I had a great first year but I'm considering leaving them, related to the last issues. I also have another reseller account with them that I consider canceling, load is usually around 6 and I can notice slowdowns very often.

I switched to HostGator after five years with iPower, which got progressively worse and worse. About three weeks in now, my experience is mixed. Account setup was easy, but I've had to use Support a fair bit in the process of leaving iPower, and it's been inconsistent. In particular, I got mixed information about what I had to do to execute a domain registration transfer, and then a fair amount of "wait and see" when it didn't go right (thanks to the previous registrar). I also had to go through a lot of back-and-forth to clarify some apparently inconsistent information in the Knowledgebase about having an Addon domain point to the same content as a subdomain. Particularly unfortunate was the switch to a new ticket system this past weekend -- which automatically changed my password without advance notice, preventing me from logging in, but then failed to send me the new password as it was supposed to, forcing me to phone Support to get it in person. The new system also appears to have lost all my old tickets (including the open ones). For all that, though, the support has still been far faster and friendlier than what I had to put up with before!

I am VERY satisfied with HostGator. I switched my company's website, as well as many of our client's website over to their hosting plans over a year ago and we have had no significant troubles at all. The very few times we needed to call support our problems were promptly addressed and remedied. They certainly have built the company with a customer focused attitude and we couldn't be more pleased.

I went to HostGator after massive problems with iPowerweb, and I'm glad I made the change after reading Hostjury's and other reviews. HostGator did a nice job in transferring my webapplications - even if one single of them appeared not compatible witht some of their security settings.

I chose HostGator based on reviews here and on another website. I wanted maximum uptime with minimum fuss. It's been a year now hosting about a dozen domains on HG and I am super-satisfied. Never even a second of downtime and their support has been awesome the few times I've needed to contact them. The only thing I don't like is the lack of virtual private server option, but honestly I don't need it. It would just be icing on the already great cake. Speeds are great and everything just works.

I came to HostGator from ipowerweb. Wow, what a difference. Support is INSTANT, via phone or via online chat. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and fast. I noticed my sites loading twice as fast. Haven't seen any downtime yet. Pricing is only about one dollar more a month than ipowerweb. Knowing what I know now, I'd pay a lot more than that.

I too just switched over from Powweb, after being with them for several years. Thus far, hostgator has been nothing short of incredible. Where else can you get 600GB and 6TB bandwidth for $6.30 a month (after a coupon I found)?! Their support team has be exceptional as well. My large, dynamic sites are seeing an exponential increase in performance when compared with Powweb. Keep it up!

I had been hosted at Powweb for 6 years when problems plagued my accounts for more over a year which made me look around for a different host. I have been with HostGator for a couple months now and I only have positive things to say about their hosting services. Live chat is a great way to get help, friendly and very helpful, directing you in the right place if they cannot give you help on the spot. The ticket system works great and everytime I used it when I needed it I got clear, concise and helpful replies to what I needed to do or what they were doing to resolve my problems. The speed of my websites has been amazing since I switched from my old host and that was the main factor that made me want to switch in the first place. I haven't experienced any downtime at all so far. The only little thing I would have to say is that for one of my websites (I host 2 on a single account, soon to make it 3) I would have needed more than 2000 files in the main index directory and they told me that when I use my FTP program, I cannot see more than 2000 files at once. I rearranged my directories and seperated them in a different way so that I can see all my files. I would have preferred to have everything in the same place but it's not too much of a big deal. This is the only reason why I didn't put "Perfection" for the Features rating in my evaluation because otherwise everything is perfect so far. My websites haven't been running this smooth and fast in a long time. Thanks to HostGator and I highly recommend this host!

I switched to this host after needing more space with my last host. I got hosting with hostgator.com around July of 2007 and also started a new site with with them under the name otakuplayground.com I did not really have to many issues with them but only used them for about 3.5 months or so. I only had 2 major outages with them. 1. was when the server was rebooted. 2. was when a member on my site caused a cpu overload and got the site suspended. The member was trying to cheat in an RPG game I have. It was found after my site was suspended I was breaking the TOS which was why I no longer use this host. The rule I broke was the rule of no RPG games are allowed and thats exactly what I have. I should also mention I did have a few issues with live support which later were worked out with the owner. Over all they are a good host just make sure you read the TOS before getting them. ;)

I've been with Hostgator for a couple of weeks now, and it's a great company. Serverspeeds are very good, eventough I am living in Europe and the servers are located in The Planet, Texas. 24/7/365 live chat support has proven very useful for me and all requests have been dealt with very fast. The price is very correct. 9,95 for 5GB space, that's more then enough for me. I run a quite busy forum on their server and it's been no problem so far. Great job Gator!
