It seems that IPowerweb / IPower clientele are experiencing massive problems since Friday of last week. According to several Hostjury readers users of the IPowerweb / IPower service have been unable to check their e-mail since late Friday evening.
According to our sources it appears that Endurance International Group went ahead with their planned server migration without notifying any of their clients! The result is continuous problems and issues, clients unable to check their e-mail & unable to login to their web hosting accounts.
One IPowerweb / IPower user stated that technical support seems oblivious to the migration stating that the issues were a result of "Corrupt passwords" and would be handled within a few hours. Over five days later and the problems are still occurring.
We suppose the Endurance International Group name has another possible meaning. Just how long can their clientele endure problems!
Get in touch with iPowerWeb
One of our readers found the corporate phone number for Endurance International, the company that owns iPowerWeb. If you want quick, prompt service in getting your cancellation, domain name details or anything else give them a quick call: 1-866-897-5421
This is the only iPowerWeb phone number that will result in prompt service.

Ian,
There's a fairly large list of the owned ones here:

I am sad to see so many people still suffering from the poor services offered by Ipowerweb and Endurance International. I wanted to remind everyone, you can unlock your domain name by visiting:
https://manage.opensrs.net/
After unlocking it you will be able to migrate your domain name away from them.
I still encourage everyone to file a complaint with the BBB and the Arizona Attourney General. If enough people get the message accross, there is bound to be a lawsuit or investigation done.
Just a little extra knowledge about Endurance International's practices. Did you know that Endurance International buys hosting companies and turns them into what Ipower now is? Why you might ask yourself? Well, they get a $50 cancellation fee for you cancelling your membership. If Endurance International bought ipower with 700,000 members, and all cancel their accounts, Endurance International will still make:
700,000 * $50 = $35,000,000
If you take this math a step farther, Endurance International owns many other companies such as starlogic, powweb, etc..
Say Endurance International owns 12 other companies, which is probablly close to accurate, and this same business model is used (which due any research into this company and you will see this is how Endurance International does business!)
12 webhosts * $50 cancelation fee * 700,000 members per host =
$420,000,000
Maybe instead of feeding this beast (Endurance International) We should ban together and boycott anysite owned by this company. Otherwise, leaving ipower isnt fixing the problem, it could actually be perpetuating it!
Anyone have a list of companies owned by Endurance International? I can't find one anywhere. It would be nice to know which hosts use this same poor business model.

Olu,
Well, visa can definitely refund you as long as it has been within 90 days. Something to note is that any credit card user can do what is known as a 'chargeback' but always save it as the last option as using it frequently can be malicious to your credit rating.
Otherwise, if they're non-responsive or beating around the bush: It's a solid way of guaranteeing your funds back.
Sorry to hear about the consistent problems though, you'd think they would learn after bleeding so many of their clients.

Well, i am so mad at myself for tracking down this website after the dmage had been done. Just like 'Rob' (above), i paid for a hosting account with Ipowerweb last week. I never got an email confirming the transaction or one giving set-up instructions. Now, having read all the posts, it safe to assume you will get results if One - you go through Endurance International and Two, Inform them you have been in touch with the Arizona District Attorney General's Office.
What i want to know is (i hope David can help me out here) - Can i get a refund back into my visa card? as i used a debit visa card - is a reversal possible? And then, what are the rights/options international customers have at their disposal? I am not based in the U.S, so going through the Arizona District Attoney General,s route may not work for me.
Thank you David for this site and i hope the Class Action Lawsuit will put an end to this mess. As for us outside The U.S, we dont know what definitive action we can take.

I can only confirm this. Besides other things, IPower disabled anonymous ftp now and the client software that my customers download relies on this to get initial contact scripts from my website. Now I can go ahead and reprogram these routines to use another webserver. Ipowerweb customer service didn't care when I told them I'm loosing money over their screwup.
Stay away from IPower!

iPower is the ultimate example of poor customer service. Their service is unreliable. Their "hang time" for phone service is deplorable. Their problem resolution grade is terrible. I can't even get my MX records moved so I can leave them. It's like being in ipower jail!
My advice to all ipower customers is to find an alternative host as fast as you can

I managed to get a full refund through filing a complaint with the BBB. Discussing it with the Ipower billing department didn't help. The corporate number might have been a solution if I had the number.
Wed, 28 May 2008, 05:32
ks,
The BBB is a business. You won't get a refund if you go through the BBB -- chargeback or speak to your bank / credit card company otherwise try to deal with it through ipower's corporate number.
The BBB won't get very far though.
Tue, 27 May 2008, 14:37
If you are not satisfied after contacting them (if you can contact them), then simply file a complaint with the BBB, claiming a full and complete refund. Otherwise you will be ripped off.

We have tons of clients on ipower/bluefishhosting and for the last week it has been hell. instead of focusing on our projects we had to answer phone calls from our clients telling us their site is down and emails don't work. We have lost time and money dealing with this issue. And today here we go again. Ipower has defaulted to old versions of my clients sites. I don't know what to do anymore. I really think there should be a class action lawsuit on ipower and bluefish Hosting since their the same company.
Mon, 26 May 2008, 11:00
Philippe,
Yes, they are the same company. There is a list of companies they own (and I'm sure they own more by now) on our other page:

My husband has a site hosted by Startlogic and I have one hosted by IPower. They are both down and no, impossible to contact them by their hosting websites as they are down, too.
Mon, 26 May 2008, 08:29
My website hosted by ipowerweb has been down for at least two hours (maybe more). ipowerweb.com site is also down, so it is impossible to contact them.
I have another site which is hosted by startlogic which has exactly the same problem - both my site and startlogic.com site are down too! I wonder if ipowerweb and startlogic are just the same company. Their layout and products and services are exactly the same.
Any info about these crashes?

Joined ipower 3 days back...big mistake, can't connect to my db, given advice that was un helpfull, spent too long on the phone trying to get a simple issue like the mysql server to respond to its path.. what a pathetic server. ipower lets rename it to No power

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM IPOWER. Website was down to lack up payment they said a week ago. Updated billing info went back and looked at statements accound was billed for one year in July of last year. It should have been paid for until July of this year. Website is sill down a week later with fighting with everyone at their shitty customer support. They can't figure out how to get it back up online. I finally had enough and told them to cancel. They are going to cancel but wont refund my money for last week or the 3 days its going to take them to process the cancel. They said it is impossible to refund those 10 days or so in which they billed me for where they could not figure out how to get my website up. Avoid them like the plague. Im getting a lawsuit against them for lost revenue due to my site being down, and for the error in billing they can't seem to get taken care of.

So today I see our website's down. I call iPowerweb and the tech on the phone (John) blamed it on DNS when everything is good on the DNS. Tech also said level 2 confirmed that it was DNS, so obviously their level 2 isn't so well educated either. Just to confirm, I called my ISP to make sure everything with the DNS was good. After confirming, I call back iPowerweb and after being on hold for 20 minutes, they finally admit that the host my website is on is down.
I will be getting a credit however, I won't need it since I will be moving off of iPowerweb.
Worst webhost ever.
