IPowerweb / IPower clients enduring massive problems

Thu, 17th May 2007, 14:49

It seems that IPowerweb / IPower clientele are experiencing massive problems since Friday of last week. According to several Hostjury readers users of the IPowerweb / IPower service have been unable to check their e-mail since late Friday evening.

According to our sources it appears that Endurance International Group went ahead with their planned server migration without notifying any of their clients! The result is continuous problems and issues, clients unable to check their e-mail & unable to login to their web hosting accounts.

One IPowerweb / IPower user stated that technical support seems oblivious to the migration stating that the issues were a result of "Corrupt passwords" and would be handled within a few hours. Over five days later and the problems are still occurring.

We suppose the Endurance International Group name has another possible meaning. Just how long can their clientele endure problems!

  1. Neal Pritchett Says:

AFter having endured numerous outages of my site and my mail accounts, I am absolutely leaving ipower, today if possible. This one is the worst. When I try pinging my domain name, I get a message telling me that my host is unrecognized. Even the ipower site itself is down, so I can;t even get the phone number, or email, of some guy in India to swear at.

  2. Bill C Says:

I run 6 sites through ipowerweb and have mixed responses to problems, sometimes they've been very responsive other times not.

At the moment it appears they are experiencing a massive outage that has taken down even their own site.

I'm wondering if they've gone out of business? Anyone have any ideas?

  3. Tansu Says:

Just before I reach my web sites, I will immediately move to another hosting.

  4. Travis Inagcion Says:

I've been with iPowerWeb for 4+ years now and I've lost count of how many times I've come to my workstation and our company site/e-mail has been down. It happens at least once every couple of months. I've been meaning to switch to a new host for months but I'm too busy. Now it's too late -- their down again and this time it looks really bad...

  5. Guy Says:

I have three domains hosted that are all not reachable as of today (worked up to last night), can't even get to ipower's website today.

  6. Jen Says:

Hallelujah, I'm not the only one. I have five sites with ipower and all of them are down as of 8am this morning. I'm in the process of moving 4 of them, (at least they're backed up) but am worried about my big merchant site. No, I haven't backed it up because THEY were supposed to have backups. Countless hours of updating down the tubes if everything is truly lost. Not to mention the idiot tech guys that messed up my domain resolution in the first place, and the other idiot guy that messed up the hosting and lost one of my sites completely. It's fun when the phone number for the company doesn't even work...

  7. Jan Says:

This has to be the worst host I've ever encountered. I'm moving our website to Netfronts - I worked with them over 4 years prior to this site (I didn't choose IPOwer) and the customer service at netfronts is top notch. I never have had problems like I have with Ipower.

  8. Robyn Says:

I'm glad it's not just me - I had problems accessing my site a week ago - but it was resolved shortly. Today - I cannot access my site or ipowerweb - get a "page not found error". I've been with them for 4 years - looks like I should be looking to move.

  9. Sondra Says:

Grrrrr .... I'm the new webmaster at a company who uses iPowerWeb. It must be the worst host out there. My site is down ... our email is down and this not the first time it has happened in the past two months. I'm going to the president of the company and requesting permission to make the move to a new host.

  10. Travis Says:

I'm trying to run a webdesign company, and my clients keep calling to say their site isn't working. After running through hoops on my end, I continually have come back to Ipowerweb as the source of the problem. This is completely unacceptable and killing my business.

Can anyone recommend another provider? And has anyone had success with refunds? I have 4 client's sites with them, and my own.

  11. Trey Says:

    My site is gone. TODAY.

No site- no cpanel- no hosting- no phone number.

  12. Bard R. Gunnerud Says:

Same story all over. No warning prior, live support seem to have no idea what is going on, lost over 2000 emails in personal folders after the account was moved and NO help to get. Live support don’t know jack, and level 2 support never replies. 1 month later, still nothing has changed and now I can’t even open ipowerweb.com or ipower.com, any one else have that problem??

I’ve used them for over 3 years, but now I’m out! STAY AWAY from IPOWER(WEB) !!!

  13. Chet Caruthers Says:

I've just encountered my first problems with ipower in two years of use. I see it's been a week without any further updates on the situation. Has everyone given up or has it improved??

  14. Tara Says:

Three weeks of e-mails, hours on the phone. No results. An extremely unprofessional and ineffective company. No warning whatsoever about the supposed "server migration". Two weeks without a website. Six years worth of stored e-mail folders and a client address book...gone. When the tech asked if I backed up my e-mails or address book, I said "no" (my mistake, obviously), "didn't ipowerweb"? Silence.

Was offered a free month of webhosting (a $6.95 value!) to compensate for my loss. A generous offer, no? Goodbye ipowerweb.

  15. terryw Says:

Probably the most useless customer service that I have ever had to deal with. They have continuously messed up my web sites and e-mail and I shall now definitely move my business elsewhere

  16. Rick Nuthman Says:

Yes, I would like to know more about this hack since Ipowerweb techs are so useless. I'll be checking back

  17. Hostjury Admin Icon DavidJ Says:

    Rick,

That sounds like it was a knee-jerk reaction to their recent 'hack'.

I'll have more posted here on Hostjury later today about the Ipowerweb / Ipower hack that seems to have effected over 50% of their users.

    Scary stuff.

  18. Rick Nuthman Says:

I am glad to see I am not the only one! Starting last week, all of my php files were corrupted (phpBB2, 2 blogs, and Zen-Cart). I had other people’s personal information showing up in my databases, and some of my files were linking to completely different websites.

Luckily I had a local backup of the entire site, and the most recent databases and I re-uploaded them but not after sitting on the phone for 3 hours waiting for a customer support rep to answer (who never did). I also spent 20 minutes waiting for a live chat rep who seemed to be nothing more than a computer illiterate bot who gave standard responses. The tech assured me that the problem was related to a ‘server migration’.

Anyway, so just this morning my client calls me up and tells she can’t access the blog. She says it just shows a blank page. So I logged into the ftp server and find that any document named index* located anywhere in my site was replace with a zero byte version.

So I contacted live support again, and proceeded to explain my problem and they said ‘I am forwarding your problem to a level 2 technician and they will email you.’

Of course that was a complete blow off. No one ever responded, so I once again uploaded the entire site. Ipowerweb is an absolute rip off with appalling customer support. They have serious security holes and your data is NOT safe there and neither is your customers personal information. Please inform me if there is any class action lawsuit against them as I will surely join.

  19. Gabriel Mounsey Says:

One of my sites has been down now or 16 days.

I have gotten on the phone to techs about 3 times, each time they assured me that it was a naming server problem, that they would reset fix it, and it would be fixed in 24 hours or 5am next morning.

    It never gets fixed though....

The funny thing is, it is naming server based, as I can log into the Vdeck for my site, but only if I go through the Ipowerweb Vdeck system.

Any path with my domain in its name does not resolve.

I too would join a class lawsuit. This whole system in unbelievable.

  20. AbbyK Says:

No migrating to new server emails came to me.

I manage 5 sites with Ipowerweb but not for long.

Two of them cannot get a FTP connection. Three of them are up, one is down, and the last one my client successfully got a refund. That site is down and gone.

Mulitple emails have gone unanswered, and I got frustrated after 45 minutes on hold and hung up.

Please sign me up for the lawsuit.
