IPowerweb / IPower clients enduring massive problems

It seems that IPowerweb / IPower clientele are experiencing massive problems since Friday of last week. According to several Hostjury readers users of the IPowerweb / IPower service have been unable to check their e-mail since late Friday evening.

According to our sources it appears that Endurance International Group went ahead with their planned server migration without notifying any of their clients! The result is continuous problems and issues, clients unable to check their e-mail & unable to login to their web hosting accounts.

One IPowerweb / IPower user stated that technical support seems oblivious to the migration stating that the issues were a result of "Corrupt passwords" and would be handled within a few hours. Over five days later and the problems are still occurring.

We suppose the Endurance International Group name has another possible meaning. Just how long can their clientele endure problems!

Three weeks of e-mails, hours on the phone. No results. An extremely unprofessional and ineffective company. No warning whatsoever about the supposed "server migration". Two weeks without a website. Six years worth of stored e-mail folders and a client address book...gone. When the tech asked if I backed up my e-mails or address book, I said "no" (my mistake, obviously), "didn't ipowerweb"? Silence.

Was offered a free month of webhosting (a $6.95 value!) to compensate for my loss. A generous offer, no? Goodbye ipowerweb.

Probably the most useless customer service that I have ever had to deal with. They have continuously messed up my web sites and e-mail and I shall now definitely move my business elsewhere

  1. Yes, I would like to know more about this hack since Ipowerweb techs are so useless. I'll be checking back

    Rick,

That sounds like it was a knee-jerk reaction to their recent 'hack'.

I'll have more posted here on Hostjury later today about the Ipowerweb / Ipower hack that seems to have effected over 50% of their users.

    Scary stuff.

  2. I am glad to see I am not the only one! Starting last week, all of my php files were corrupted (phpBB2, 2 blogs, and Zen-Cart). I had other people’s personal information showing up in my databases, and some of my files were linking to completely different websites.

Luckily I had a local backup of the entire site, and the most recent databases and I re-uploaded them but not after sitting on the phone for 3 hours waiting for a customer support rep to answer (who never did). I also spent 20 minutes waiting for a live chat rep who seemed to be nothing more than a computer illiterate bot who gave standard responses. The tech assured me that the problem was related to a ‘server migration’.

Anyway, so just this morning my client calls me up and tells she can’t access the blog. She says it just shows a blank page. So I logged into the ftp server and find that any document named index* located anywhere in my site was replace with a zero byte version.

So I contacted live support again, and proceeded to explain my problem and they said ‘I am forwarding your problem to a level 2 technician and they will email you.’

Of course that was a complete blow off. No one ever responded, so I once again uploaded the entire site. Ipowerweb is an absolute rip off with appalling customer support. They have serious security holes and your data is NOT safe there and neither is your customers personal information. Please inform me if there is any class action lawsuit against them as I will surely join.

One of my sites has been down now or 16 days.

I have gotten on the phone to techs about 3 times, each time they assured me that it was a naming server problem, that they would reset fix it, and it would be fixed in 24 hours or 5am next morning.

    It never gets fixed though....

The funny thing is, it is naming server based, as I can log into the Vdeck for my site, but only if I go through the Ipowerweb Vdeck system.

Any path with my domain in its name does not resolve.

I too would join a class lawsuit. This whole system in unbelievable.

No migrating to new server emails came to me.

I manage 5 sites with Ipowerweb but not for long.

Two of them cannot get a FTP connection. Three of them are up, one is down, and the last one my client successfully got a refund. That site is down and gone.

Mulitple emails have gone unanswered, and I got frustrated after 45 minutes on hold and hung up.

Please sign me up for the lawsuit.

I reported problems with one of my sites on 5/7. They told me that they were migrating to a new server and it could be a week until service was restored. It is 5/25 and the site is viewable but I still dont have access to the site or email. Technical support has vanished. I was never notified by ipowerweb of this possible interuption of service.

    Angel,

I have no doubt you'll see one begin to materialize in short order. If there is anything of the sort I'll be sure to post about it here on Hostjury.

Best of luck with the situation and I do hope you have backups!

I agree with you all. Is there anyone who wants to start a lawsuit? I am sure there will be thousands who will be joining in. What Ipowerweb has done is despicable, unprofessional

    Mike,

From what I know, no clients were notified ahead of time. It seems a bit nearsighted to me to perform a migration without any notice to any clients.

We were down for over a week, especially e-mail. According to a supervisor this whole problem was due to a move to Vdeck servers. When it finally came back we had lost all e-mail from April 13 onward. Ipower says they cannot recover the lost e-mail. Their standard answer is that it is the users responsibility to make back-ups. When I said that we had no notification of the move, they stated that they sent multiple e-mail notfications about the server move to all users. Did anyone receive notification? We didn't. They deserve a class action suit and no further business.

I have to agree. What a mess! My site has been down for 11 days now. I contemplated switching host companys but who knows what kinds of problems I might get with that. I will NEVER say anything positive to anyone about Ipowerweb. Their customer service is terrible. When you chat with them you get the same line: "our admins are working on this issue and it should be resolved in 24 hours." I even contacted EIG and asked them if they had bought out Ipowerweb and they said yes but not until the next couple of weeks so it makes sense that they are trying to move clients elsewhere. They never even gave us advance notice of this - terrible customer service!

I could not get through to technical support regardless of how long I wait on hold. This problem is causing serious injury to my business and they definitely don't deserve to be in business. A class action lawsuit is inevitable.

I have several sites with them that have been totally unaccessible for the last 5 days. One tech I spoke with said this may not be resolved until sometime late next week. I cannot even access my sites to back them up. Everyone with a site there should move to another host as quickly as possible. These guys don't deserve to be in business.

  3. I have three web sites with these people This screwup was almost criminal and they could not be reached by e mail or phone !
