IPowerweb / IPower clients enduring massive problems

Thu, 17th May 2007, 14:49

It seems that IPowerweb / IPower clientele are experiencing massive problems since Friday of last week. According to several Hostjury readers users of the IPowerweb / IPower service have been unable to check their e-mail since late Friday evening.

According to our sources it appears that Endurance International Group went ahead with their planned server migration without notifying any of their clients! The result is continuous problems and issues, clients unable to check their e-mail & unable to login to their web hosting accounts.

One IPowerweb / IPower user stated that technical support seems oblivious to the migration stating that the issues were a result of "Corrupt passwords" and would be handled within a few hours. Over five days later and the problems are still occurring.

We suppose the Endurance International Group name has another possible meaning. Just how long can their clientele endure problems!

    Chris,

Well, if you happen to do an investigative report don't hesitate to contact us here at HostJury.

We would love to publish it.

  2. Chris Says:

YES!!!! If you are reading these comments for the first time. They ARE TRUE!!

They will not return my e-mails.

My user name was given to another website

before I ever canceled. I think they are fraudulent. I was on hold for 75 minutes tonight. Their billing will never pick up.(Opt3) When I finally did get someone, and tried to tell them all thats happened, they transferred me. .....TO NO ONE.

But beleive you me...their sales will pick up(opt1)

I cannot beleive what some of the people

that are the author of these comments have been through!

Something is seriously wrong. I'm thinking of doing an investigative report on them.

I'm glad I saw this blog, I am a non-business user, had an email account I used once in a while, but which is now unavailable. What's sad is that the only way they could have caused the problems we all have is to take the servers and sell them, and the building, the desks, and the phone system, put 1 chump answering phones after a 2 hour wait, and never deliver any services again - services which we all paid for in advance.

  4. sebar Says:

I was an Ipowerweb customer since the year 2000. They were friendly back than and for years the site was great, tech support was no more than five minutes averaging most of the time a minute and a half. I had several websites through them.

    valleyhaunts.net

    tpb3d.net

    authorspen.net

    sebar.com

    jtwalsh.org

    mantacars.org

and the sites worked well for a long time. In 2006 there was an L.A. power outage and the first problem came about when my sites were down back than all day. They didn't have a server out of town which was a first bad sign. Later in 2006 they screwed up and removed the pointing for my subdomains which further I had to correct, but still not bad. Things after that worked very well and in April of 2007 I decided to pre pay for 5 years hosting with them in advance. In June the first week, I began getting mysql errors and my forums, chats and wikipedia sites were down. Called them with a 30 minute wait and the sites were back up. But than this began happening twice or more per week, and again a half hour on the phone. It continued through about a month ago when I located many issues in google. What pushed me to leave was I had two hour plus waits online. I got a guy named Ryan in tech support one evening after 2 and a half hours and he said that Ipower only resets the mysql three times than no more and that my sites would stay down. I asked him if he ever heard of attorneys and he pleasantly hung up on me. After two hours, eight years a customer, referred many others to them, pre paid 5 years worth of service and to be treated like that. I cannot tell you how very angry I was, I could have nearly had a storke and my family never saw me that angry before. But I bided my time. First I located a new host, than I got to Ipower after 2 plus hours again. At this point my files had all been moved and the old databases backed up, transferred, so ironically I got Ryan. I asked for the transfer codes for my domain names and re-hosted them elsewhere. I have since had no issues with the new host and their tech support is answered in a few minutes not hours. Unfortunately I had paid for an extended service just before I was aware the Ipower had been sold to the dirty rotten scumbags running it now. What I can tell you is your only option is to run. I have seen their kiosks which are ultra confusing and I have seen and worked in their new Vdeck and it really has become much more confusing to use. Anything is better than what you get at Ipower and any host you can find cannot be much worse than the way their technician Ryan treated me that faithful and long frustrating helpless evening. Just get your site away from them before it is too late and you are treated as I was and thousands who visit and use my sites and were denied that free usage by the host of Ipower.

    Good luck!!!

Piss on 'em. Their transition kiosk is just another pointless link in an endless chain of pointless links.

I've spent no less than an hour (and often more than two) on hold a half dozen times in the past ten days to try and get an answer as to how to access our sites and the result is a string of e-mails changing both the user name and password, none of which work.

It's very difficult to not question the concept and wisdom of globalization when what it really provides is anonymous management. It's time for some accountability. Who's got a match?

  6. Andrew Says:

What other hosting company transfers your phone call to an endless loop where you spend the next 2 hours (yes, 2 hours and 7 minutes) waiting for an answer that never comes. Ipower has some serious issues they will need to address if they really hope, under the new ownership, to retain their client base.

We've already transferred many sites to other companies in the past several months. We still have a bunch with Ipower, but, believe me, this transition is revealing that Ipower doesn't really give much care about its customers. You almost feel, sometimes, like you're a nuisance to them.

We're looking into some of the smaller, independent hosts out there--there are pros & cons, but after ipower, the friendly customer service of the small mas & pas might just be worth it.

  7. Hostjury Admin Icon david Says:

    Bryan,

Quite frankly, run. You won't find a solution to it -- other than escape. The company seems to have gone down the drain after the buyout and they're well beyond the point of no return.

  8. bryan Fotographer Says:

Is what I'm reading real? Are you telling me after hanging on a phone for over 2 hours and not getting someone on the line, that I nothing to look forward to but a number of days without my business emails?

Is anyone available to comment on the real state of affairs of this massive breakdown?

I'd like to find a solution and fast!

  9. John Bartley Says:

My website email accounts are not working. It was next to impossible to get ahold of support, but, once I did, they don't seem interested in fixing the problem -- I'm just supposed to wait until the migration is over!

  10. robert mair Says:

i tried to piont my dns to another server so i can get my website up and found out that ipower parked it at sedoparking.com

  11. Nick Says:

ipowerweb is TERRIBLE !!! I can not check my emails for last one week - my business has gone on hold !! I am loosing customers, I am calling them like crazy (even though it takes me atleast 2 hours before I can speak to someone).. 5 days, all blow-off, no fix yet !!

  12. Daniel Gray Says:

I have the same problem with Ipower my client "A Law Firm" has been without email for six day's. No response from any email or phone calls. This company is a complete JOKE. If Ipower donsen't get sued I'm sure I will. Thank's for nothing Ipower!!!

  13. todd hackett Says:

transitioning to a new improved platform - BS. They are transitioning because they sold the company and couching it is a big benefit to their customers. My email down over 5 days now, you can't get hold of anyone, and the live chat assholes just end the session because "they have no access to information which can be of help"

  14. Hostjury Admin Icon DavidJ Says:

    Robert,

I'd recommend checking the list on the right-side of this site for a few ideas on providers :)

  15. robert mair Says:

I WANT IN ON THE LAW SUIT! My website does not load and they won't talk to me when i call. I called other web host but i think they are all i power with different names.

Can anyone recommend a web host?

  16. Bill Hanna Says:

I have never had any problems with ipowerweb. I have been using them for over 3 years now. I did get a letter regarding the migration.

We've officially begun the transition to vDeck 3.0 and the new hosting platform! While we haven't moved your account just yet, we have made some changes to the IPOWER Web site and the way you manage your Web site and e-mail.

If you missed our earlier announcement about the vDeck upgrade and the new hosting platform, visit our Support Center.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: NEW IPOWER SITE

Before we move customer sites to the new platform, we first had to move our own! That's right—IPOWER.com is now hosted on the new platform. The homepage looks the same, but you'll find that many of the secondary pages have changed to better integrate with services available on the new platform.

NEW WAY TO LOG INTO vDECK

While your account has not yet been upgraded to vDeck 3.0, beginning today, October 23, you'll log into vDeck via the IPOWER Web site. (Your previous login URL will redirect you to the new location.) If you run into any issues logging in, try our Resend Account Information tool.

    INTRODUCING THE TRANSITION KIOSK

When you log into your account, you'll see that we've set up a Transition Kiosk to provide you with information about when and how we'll move your account. (As a reminder, we've built a new hosting platform to improve reliability and properly support the new version of vDeck.) We'll continue to add information to the Kiosk as it becomes available. Please note:

    • Before your account is moved to the new platform, you'll be able to manage your Web site and e-mail on the original platform by clicking the button labeled "Log into vDeck 1.0."

    • Once your site is hosted on the new platform, you'll be able to skip the Transition Kiosk and log into vDeck 3.0 directly.

    ACCESSING WEBMAIL, MySQL ADMIN, KNOWLEDGEBASE

When accessing your WebMail, MySQL admin or the IPOWER Knowledgebase, select the original-platform version of these tools until your account has been moved to the new one.

WHEN WILL MY ACCOUNT BE UPGRADED TO vDECK 3.0?

We plan to begin moving customers to the new platform in November. To provide individual attention to each customer, we will upgrade accounts one by one—which means your account might not be upgraded right away. You'll soon be able to use the Transition Kiosk to see when your account is scheduled to be moved—you'll also be able to reschedule it for a time that works best for you.

More information about how the process will work is available in our Support Center. If you have any questions, please call us at 888-511-4678 or contact us online.

    Best wishes,

    The IPOWER Team

  17. Jason Says:

Add me to the list of once satisfied Ipower users.

I have hosted my main website with them for years and each year I have had an annual shutdown because of billing and tech not speaking to each other. They would claim I had not paid my bill and shut down the site AFTER my credit card had already been charged with a pretty obvious IPOWER charge.

I dealt with this and it was a nagging issue but recently after starting a wordpress weblog, my database crapped out for no good reason and it took three calls to support just to get them to acknowledge it was an issue on their end! It has been two weeks and I am told all is well and the problem is my fault... Are they nuts? My weblog stops working out of the blue, they do nothing and tell me its my fault?

I am in the process of changing companies and I would NEVER recommend ipower or whatever fraudulent company they might become to anyone. I just spent an hour on hold for my last gasp at tech support and I couldnt get through.

    Good riddance.

  18. Jason Says:

Tim.. I'm in the exact situation with bcinspired.com. Where you able to transfer the domain?

  19. Hostjury Admin Icon DavidJ Says:

    Tim,

I do very much wish you the best of luck in the situation.

Be sure to let us know how it goes.

  20. Tim Gerlach Says:

Ditto on many of the previous complaints listed here, I have a company web site and email service that I can longer depend on due to the problems at Ipower. I am just now in the process of transferring the domain, but they have placed some obstacles in the way of that as well. We will see how that goes.
