HostJury: New Look. Same Attitude

Wed, 12th November 2008, 20:31

Hostjury has a brand new look with all the same old attitudes. This attitude is the reason people have come to trust HostJury as a honest hosting review site.

But we're not done yet! We will continue in the coming weeks to implement many of the new features of HostJury including the forums. We're also implementing a way for hosts to provide special offers and coupons, as well as inform potential clients of services that may set them apart from other hosts.

Hostjury believes that there are many exceptional hosts available to choose from, and we want you to be as informed as possible prior to making your hosting decision. This is why we will continue to inform our users of the changing landscape of the hosting industry. If you haven't already subscribed to the HJ Blog , now may be a very good time.

You'll see many reviews claiming that a company was good in the early days but that was the good old days before they switched owners maybe. And hosting reviews is what Hostjury is based on. New site but same outlook. The ability to recommend and review your web hosting provider to other users and to share your real hosting reviews.

I see a lot our positive reviews for Ultimahosts.net are deleted? What's going on here? Is hostgator calling the shots?

Possibly, I'll leave the link in the comments but given that there was no length of time spent hosting with the provider, it's not welcome as a review.

OK, call it "compilation of existing reviews" then, or whatever the assessment of service before purchasing said service is called.

Anyhow, let's not make an ad hominem out of this. If you have any issues with the factuality of my review of Servebyte at http://dev.catalyst.perl.org/wiki/hosting/Servebyte, THAT is what would interest your audience.

No, it's not "market research". You hadn't signed up before you started shitting on their name on multiple sites -- quite frankly, it's pathetic.

I'm sorry, that's called market research. I like to be informed before I pay. I don't need to have an account with DreamHost to tell it's crap. I only need to look at HostJury's ratings for uptime. Isn't that its point?

Anyhow, here is the ServeByte review:

  7. Hostjury Admin Icon David Says:

That's worthy justification. Given that you had only signed up with servebyte today though, I tossed the review -- taking dumps on their name even before you sign up is quite unfair.

Most of your remarks were unjustified. We'll leave it at that and your slicehost review can remain online.

I just signed up with ServeByte on 2008-11-24 after seeing that nobody offered a knowledgeable review of ServeByte, and during the last day of their special "double RAM" offer ($9.99/512MB RAM).

For security over various Wifi networks that I'm on, I surf the net through an SSH tunnel hosted on my Slicehost VPS. That explains the IP being in their network. If you bothered to whois it, you'd see that a few other hosts on that IP are registered in my name.

    Dan,

I found your post on webhostingtalk mentioning that you've never been a client of Servbyte, and the 'Slicehost' review you posted was from within their network.

    Care to explain?

    Hi David,

I left two reviews yesterday, for Slicehost and Servebyte. I now see that both were deleted. Is this a new attitude?

    Thanks,

    Dan Dascalescu
